Wd15 dell docking station6/21/2023 ![]() ![]() My final issue in which I'm fairly sure the dock is the culprit, is that I have 5 laptops out of 20 that will not accept updates from PDQ Deploy unless I disable and re-enable File and Print sharing in the adapter properties or just do them over the wireless adapter. (To be fair, I have to do this with my Surface dock, once in a great while too.) Pulling the power plug on the dock, waiting 5 seconds and then reconnecting, resolves this issue 99% of the time. Once in awhile we a user may have an issue with a something not coming on at startup. Amazingly, the Amazon Basics HDMI input to DVI output worked perfectly. ![]() We found that some brands were not up to the task. Running HDMI to DVI was an issue at first but that was due to the cables. We had to upgrade to newer monitors with DisplayPort. We had those monitor flicker issues, particularly with older monitors. Lots of firmware and driver updates via Dell Command Update later and they are not nearly as finicky as they once were. We struggled for a good year getting these things dialed in. The neat thing with this setup is, if you have an external keyboard and mouse then read from "For switching the devices" down, it applies to you.I have a number of these and have managed to surmount most of the problems with them. One monitor will have the DP running into the MST hub, the HDMI into the Dell dock, the other vice versa. However, if I were you I wouldn't bother with that thing and rather I would plug a dual DP MST hub into the Surface (it's got a mini DP, right? you can keep the USB plugged into anything no need to plug into the laptop, it's power only), get a DP to HDMI adapter and connect the two monitors that way. That's because there's no video in USB A so there's nothing to pass on These sub $10 adapters won't pass along video for external monitors I can find male USB to female USB-C adapters everywhere,Īnd every single one of them is out of spec Making a joke in the comments is fine of course, but please don't post content that clearly belongs in another sub.
